Q: What is your role, and how long have you been working at RapidSOS?Melissa A

A: My role is Strategy & Operations Analyst on the Revenue Operations team. I started at RapidSOS in September 2019 as a Marketing Intern, and it has been almost two years now. I moved to my current role in January of this year, and I now get to work with both the Sales and Marketing teams regularly.

Q: What brought you to RapidSOS?

A: I interned at nonprofits and mission-driven companies when I was in college and knew I was looking to continue doing so for my last internship in my senior year, which is when I found RapidSOS. I knew that I wanted to work somewhere that was making a meaningful impact, as well as somewhere I could grow and learn on the job.

Q: What motivates you to do the work that you’re doing here?

A: I’m really driven by RapidSOS’s “save stories” and knowing the work we do and the new partners we bring on is helping to save lives everyday. We have a Slack channel called #discuss-customersuccessstories, and I love reading stories from 911 agencies that tell us that they’ve used RapidSOS to save a life. Two years ago, I didn’t even know there was a gap in the data that 911 agencies have access to, and now I’ve heard countless stories about how this technology has helped locate lost hikers, kidnapping victims, and so many more people during the worst moments of their lives.

Q: What is your favorite part about working at RapidSOS and on the Revenue Operations team?

A: My favorite part is knowing all the work I’m doing and my support of the Sales team is helping us get closer to becoming “the emergency response data platform.” We’re working to become that “source of truth” for the people handling emergencies each day. That makes me feel reassured; knowing that new customers also means new data points for first responders when someone calls 911. Also, my coworkers are great, and working with them is one of my favorite parts of coming to work. I know these are connections and friendships I’ll have for a long time.

Q: How has RapidSOS helped you reach your goals?

A: RapidSOS has helped me immensely in my personal growth and pursuit of my goals. When RapidSOS and our Chief of Staff, Michelle, first hired me, I feel like they really took a chance on me and trusted me. During my first month, I helped launch a newsletter to a new audience we were just starting to explore. Two years later, I have held three different roles at the company and I learn something new everyday. That’s one thing I can say about RapidSOS – not a day goes by that I don’t learn something I didn’t know before. I get to wear many “different hats” and that’s really special! I get to work with so many people in different areas, so I’m learning from my coworkers and the experience of working at such a fast growing company. I’ve definitely become much more confident in myself because of that.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in the coming months at RapidSOS?

A: Personally, I’m very excited to get back into the office and just be able to interact with friends for lunch. I’m also looking forward to seeing all of the ways RapidSOS continues to expand and help bridge the “data gap” between callers and 911.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: I really like to crochet. Over quarantine, I learned how by watching countless Youtube videos and I really enjoy it now. I’ve made hats, bags, and a ton of plushies. It’s what helps me unplug after work.
