New York, NY | July 23, 2020 – RapidSOS is pleased to announce that Dr. Eugene Hsu, former Chief Medical Officer at Vim, is joining the RapidSOS team as the company’s first ever Head of Healthcare. Hsu will contribute expertise from over 18 years of experience working with healthcare providers and healthcare organizations to support RapidSOS in bringing critical medical data to 911 and first responders, helping save lives.

“Eugene’s role in helping RapidSOS deliver innovative, data-driven solutions will be pivotal to the future of emergency response, especially as we continue to battle a global health pandemic,” said Michael Martin, RapidSOS CEO. “We are excited to welcome Eugene onto our team as we accelerate our work providing life-saving data to 911 and first responders.”

Over the course of his career, Hsu has led national patient safety initiatives at Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) and is a published author in multiple peer reviewed academic journals. Eugene Hsu is also dual board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and trained at Johns Hopkins Medicine, OHSU, Dartmouth and Stanford where he remains on the faculty at the Clinical Excellence Research Center. Most recently, Eugene was the Chief Medical Officer at Vim, a company working with healthcare payers and employers to direct patients to high quality, high efficiency physicians backed by Optum Ventures and Sequoia Capital.

“A 911 call is often the gateway into the healthcare system,” said Hsu. “During a typical medical emergency, EMS and ER personnel often do not even know the patient’s name, much less any health history or real-time sensor data. I’m excited to harness RapidSOS’ Emergency Response Data Platform to solve that challenge, providing life-saving data for every medical emergency.”

Dr. Eugene Hsu will be extending RapidSOS’ work with over 5,200 emergency response agencies and leading digital health technology companies and healthcare providers to provide critical, data-driven emergency care.
