People can now create a free RapidSOS Ready Emergency Health Profile to share critical health and medical information with 911 and first responders in an emergency

New York, NY – June 10, 2020 ー RapidSOS today announced they are teaming up with the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, and Direct Relief to get first responders vital information in an emergency. This is possible through the launch of emergencyprofile.org, a free service that allows people to create an opt-in Emergency Health Profile that can be automatically shared with 911 and first responders in the event of an emergency.

“Our first responders are doing incredible work managing the increased call volume due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Michael Martin, CEO of RapidSOS. “We are excited to work with these integral organizations to help empower a faster and smarter emergency response as our 911 professionals manage millions of emergencies with little more than a voice connection.”

The nation’s 911 infrastructure was built in the 1960s for landline phones, requiring individuals to verbally speak critical data to responders in an emergency. To address this challenge, RapidSOS’s emergency response data platform links real-time health and location information from connected devices, apps, and profiles with 911, providing context beyond what the caller in crisis is able to convey. This data helps 911 centers accelerate response and provides first responders with life-saving information.

“Getting data to the emergency communications center is more critical than ever due to COVID-19,” said Monica Million, President of the National Emergency Number Association. “Having immediate access to important caller health and profile data can help speed response times and ensure the safety of both first responders and those calling for help.”

Koby Langley, Senior Vice President at the American Red Cross said, “Our Hero Care Center is committed to helping military families get first responders the crucial information they need during an emergency. We look forward to working with RapidSOS to help our clients better prepare for an emergency by creating a digital health profile that will send important information in real time to 911 personnel when it matters most.”

John Meiners, Chief of Mission Aligned Businesses at the American Heart Association said, “The American Heart Association is working to make sure providers on the frontlines of everyday emergencies, and the COVID-19 pandemic, have the resources and information they need. We’re excited to work with RapidSOS to bring critical information to first responders to help with treatment and ensure optimal care for patients.”

To ensure data privacy, information is associated with an individual’s phone number and is only made available to first responders when a 911 call is placed from the associated phone number. People can learn more and create their free Emergency Health Profile today at www.emergencyprofile.org.

Built in partnership with public safety, RapidSOS’s emergency response data platform securely and automatically links life-saving data from connected devices, apps, and profiles directly to over 5,200 emergency communications centers nationwide. Public safety agencies that do not have access to RapidSOS can sign up for free at www.rapidsosportal.com.
