As announced in January of this year, RapidSOS is partnering with INdigital to give public safety agencies in the INdigital network access to precise location and enhanced data for smartphone 9-1-1 calls (without an app) from the RapidSOS NG9-1-1 Clearinghouse. Because INdigital is a NG9-1-1 core service provider, PSAPs in the INdigital network don’t even need to integrate with RapidSOS. Rather, INdigital has the ability to upgrade their whole network to receive this location and supplemental data.
Comparative Location Testing
To demonstrate the effects of this partnership on location accuracy for smartphone 9-1-1 calls, RapidSOS and INdigital performed comparative location testing last month in Elkhart, IN.
18 native 9-1-1 calls were placed to Elkhart 9-1-1 and traditional 9-1-1 location (Phase 1 and Phase 2) was compared to the device-based hybrid location sent to RapidSOS through AML mechanisms and captured in the INdigtial 9-1-1 ALI.
With 93% of calls to Elkhart’s 9-1-1 Center coming from cell phones, there is no better time than now to roll out this technology across the INdigital network. If you want to learn more about how you can see similar results in your PSAP, fill out the form below.
