NEW YORK, June 21, 2017 — RapidSOS today announced that Jonathan Peachey, former CEO of Virgin Group North America, is joining the RapidSOS Advisory Board. RapidSOS’ advisors bring extensive expertise across industries. Peachey joins the Advisory Board to contribute his expertise in telecommunications, entrepreneurship, and technology from his 20-year career developing transformative international businesses.
“We are thrilled to bring Jonathan’s experience in developing and growing over a dozen businesses to RapidSOS,” said Michael Martin, RapidSOS CEO. “Jonathan’s knowledge of startups, technology, and telecom will be invaluable as we work to transform the outcomes of millions of emergencies globally.”
For 15 years, Jonathan worked closely with Sir Richard Branson, one of the world’s most inspiring and prolific entrepreneurs. He held several senior positions at Virgin Group, ultimately serving as CEO of Virgin Group North America, where he was responsible for the development of a portfolio of companies that included Virgin America and Virgin Mobile.
In 2013, Jonathan left Virgin to become CEO of Filip Technologies, creator of ‘FiLIP’ – an award-winning wearable phone and locator for kids that enabled parents and kids to stay connected, and kids to get help in an emergency. FiLIP was the first consumer wearable with fully independent cellular voice-calling capability to achieve FCC and PTCRB certifications, and was launched with major wireless carriers AT&T and Telefonica.
“My experience at Filip Technologies taught me how critical it can be to get the right information to the right people as quickly as possible in the event of an emergency,” said Peachey. “After spending several years working on technology to keep families safe and connected, I am thrilled to join RapidSOS as they work to provide a rich data link from any device directly to 9-1-1 and first responder systems.”
