For many, Labor Day Weekend represents the end of summer celebrations. Whether you are traveling or enjoying a stay-cation this weekend, we want to help you reduce the risk of accidents that could ruin your festivities. Check out these tips to make sure your weekend is stress-free:

1. Pack an emergency kit

If you are planning to hit the road this Labor Day Weekend, make sure to bring an emergency kit with you. The kit should have water, a flashlight, first-aid supplies, a toolkit, and jumper cables. Bonus: Don’t forget to also check the car tires and brakes before you leave!

2. Check the weather

Check the weather before you head out and plan accordingly. During your festivities, drink plenty of water and ensure your kids do too. Apply sunscreen 15 minutes before going outdoors and reapply approximately every two hours, according to the instructions on the bottle.

3. Use personal floatation devices

Check water conditions before entering the water and always have personal flotation devices (PFDs) available. The type of flotation device you use will depend on the size of the person, so make sure you choose the appropriate PFD for your kids.

4. Grill safely

Make sure any grill is stable before enjoying your last round of BBQs this summer. Once the grill is stabilized, use long-handled utensils to avoid any burns. And never leave the grill unattended after lit.

5. Drink responsibly

If you choose to drink alcohol, make sure to stay hydrated by drinking water between each alcoholic beverage consumed. Do not drink and operate a watercraft or motor vehicle.
