Through this partnership, 911 telecommunicators can access livestream and text via Prepared Live in RapidSOS Portal
New York, NY – May 17, 2022 ー Prepared, a company that builds software to help emergency operators save lives, and RapidSOS announced today a partnership to provide 911 telecommunicators the ability to access livestream, text, and other multimedia through Prepared Live – for free – within RapidSOS Portal, a solution for Emergency Communication Centers (ECCs) that provides critical data to enhance incident response. With this partnership, Prepared also joins the RapidSOS Partner Network, a community of public safety software companies that are “RapidSOS Ready,” delivering their product offerings through RapidSOS Portal to unify public safety tools and resources onto one platform.
Today, location accuracy in emergency response has improved thanks to next generation 911 technologies. However, telecommunicators in the U.S. and around the world often still have to rely on the limited information a phone call can provide to gather additional context around an incident. This can result in first responders arriving on scene under-informed and cause an overuse of valuable dispatching resources.
Prepared Live’s integration into the RapidSOS Portal adds additional layers of data that help ensure first responders arrive on scene better informed than ever before. Available, at no cost to ECCs, nationwide, dispatchers are able to request that 911 callers livestream their emergency through Prepared Live. By accessing live video, emergency operators gain immediate “eyes-on-scene,” establishing further clarity around the emergency and enabling the dispatcher to provide enhanced instruction to the caller.
Among other features, the dispatcher is also able to send outbound “text-from-911” messages to callers. This functionality has proved crucial during emergencies when callers are unable to communicate verbally. Currently, the Prepared team is in the early stages of piloting a first responder extension that would enable seamless communication and data-sharing to those that will be first on-scene.
“RapidSOS partnered with Prepared to bring their innovative and life-saving technology to ECCs across the country through RapidSOS Portal,” said Dave Sehnert, Director of NG911 Strategy and Partnerships at RapidSOS. “Prepared increases situational awareness at the ECC to enable a faster, more strategic emergency response.”
“We are incredibly excited to integrate with RapidSOS and join their Partner Network,” said Michael Chime, co-founder and CEO of Prepared. “We believe that every ECC, and every citizen, deserves to have access to Prepared Live functionalities. Throughout our history, we’ve aimed to remove each and every potential barrier to achieving that goal, including offering Prepared Live to ECCs for free, and we believe that this is a significant step in that direction.”
The RapidSOS and Prepared Live solution will become available to Emergency Communication Centers with access to RapidSOS Portal in May 2022. To learn more about how your ECC can leverage this solution, visit: www.rapidsos.com/prepared.
