  • Vitals™ announces a partnership with RapidSOS and is now recognized as RapidSOS Ready
  • Through this partnership, Vitals™ sends life-saving emergency data directly to 911 through the RapidSOS Platform in an emergency

Minneapolis, MN – March 9, 2021 ー Vitals™ Aware Services, the creator of the Vitals™ Profile911 App, a first of its kind service that allows first responders to better interact with people living with invisible and visible conditions and disabilities, announced a partnership with RapidSOS today to share medical and health data with 911 personnel in an emergency through the Vitals™ Profile911 App. Built in partnership with public safety, RapidSOS’s emergency response data platform securely and automatically links life-saving data from connected devices directly to over 5,200 Emergency Communications Centers nationwide.

Technology has dramatically improved our lives over the last 60 years, except for when we need it most. Emergency Communication Centers in the U.S. and around the world rely on the limited information a phone call can provide, and the result often means delays in dispatching and first responders arriving on scene, under-informed.

This partnership allows Vitals™ Profile911 users to share critical medical and mental health data directly with 911 in an emergency through the RapidSOS Platform. This may include the user’s profile information, de-escalation tools, emergency contact information, and medical information. This data helps 911 centers expedite response and empowers first responders with the critical data they need to provide appropriate care for users in emergency situations.

Vitals™ has been making an impact across the country. In 2018, Katelyn Kasel, a Vitals™ user who lives with a mild cognitive disability, became confused one night on her drive home when the route she had memorized was blocked. Fortunately, an officer who responded to the scene was alerted about Katelyn’s disability through the Vitals™ First Responder app, which had detected her Vitals™ signal. The officer was able to leverage the information on Katelyn’s Vitals™ profile to offer her the help needed to get home safely.

“With the option of sharing critical information directly with 911 through the RapidSOS Platform, Vitals™ Profile911 can further empower users like Katelyn to live more independently and provide their families with peace of mind,” said Janee Harteau, president/CEO at Vitals™ Profile911. “It will drive forward our mission to increase safety and independence for people living with invisible and visible conditions and disabilities, while also providing first responders with the information needed for safer interactions.”

“911 is the front door to the U.S. healthcare system. Without data from platforms like Vitals™ Profile911 and RapidSOS, first responders may not be able to optimally help the most vulnerable in our community get the right care at the right time,” said Eugene Hsu, MD, MBA, Head of Healthcare at RapidSOS. “This is why we’re committed to building a future in which technology and people work together to protect lives. Together with innovative companies like Vitals™, we’re proud to provide an added layer of safety and security for our community while supporting our heroic first responders in saving millions of lives annually.”

With the launch of this solution, Vitals™ Profile911 technology will be recognized as RapidSOS Ready – allowing critical data to be sent directly to local 911 agencies in an emergency through the RapidSOS Platform. To learn more about the solution, visit: thevitalsapp.com/profile911

About Vitals™ Profile911

The Vitals™Profile911 App equips first responders with life-saving information voluntarily provided by Vitals™ Profile911 subscribers. The service allows a vulnerable person to register online, and provide critical information about medical conditions, memory loss, mental health, de-escalation cues, or any visible or invisible disability or condition. When seconds count and minutes matter, Vitals™ Profile911 speaks clearly when vulnerable individuals can’t. Vitals™ Profile911 is a service of Vitals™ Aware Services and was developed in partnership with first responders and the Autism Society of Minnesota as a technology for public good.
