Today I sat down with Brian Evans, lead QA engineer, to learn more about his experience at RapidSOS!

Q: Why did you want to work at RapidSOS?

A: After doing the research about RapidSOS and seeing the problem they were trying to solve, I thought I had the skillset where I could really contribute to making the product as good as it could be.

Q: Why did you decide to major in Computer Engineering?

A: I was actually planning to major in architecture, but once I got introduced to the world of computers by my brother I became really interested in working with them and so I decided to switch.

Q: What is the best part of your job?

A: I get to work with all the latest gadgets, phones and technologies.

Q: Outside of RapidSOS, what is the most interesting project you have ever worked on?

A: I worked on and helped to test session border controllers (SBCs). It was cool because it was a new tech at the time and not a lot of people knew about them. Unknowingly everyone was using them if they were using VOIP because their calls were going through SBCs.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in the coming months at RapidSOS?

A:  Watching us grow. I can’t wait to really see us grow as a company and for more and more people to see what we are doing. And I’m excited for the new office.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: I like to cook, go out to eat, and all things tech.

Q: If you could switch jobs with anyone else at RapidSOS, whose job would you want?

A: Probably Gabe (SVP and Head of Global Partnerships). I would love to be able to talk to the customers about how our product works and how we can help them do what they are doing, better.

Q: Since this is your third startup, do you have any advice for someone who is interested in working at a startup?

A:  Prepare not to sleep and to develop bad eating habits. But more seriously, startups are one of the best ways to learn a lot in a short period of time. It is important to be dedicated to the company, work hard, and be prepared for growth and change.
