RapidSOS is partnering with TriTech to provide public safety agencies that use TriTech Inform CAD with accurate location and additional data from the RapidSOS Clearinghouse.
Read on for:
The RapidSOS Clearinghouse is a NENA i3 compliant Location Information Server (LIS) and Additional Data Repository (ADR) that is accessible to authorized PSAPs through integrations into all major call-taking equipment, mapping software & CAD products.
Through the RapidSOS Clearinghouse, PSAPs can securely access device-based location information from enabled smartphones without the need for the caller to use an app, resulting in faster and more accurate location than Phase 2 information currently available.
The RapidSOS Clearinghouse directly integrates into the TriTech Inform CAD product.
To demonstrate the impact of the TriTech Inform RapidSOS Clearinghouse integration, RapidSOS performed comparative location testing at Hamilton County 9-1-1 in Chattanooga, TN. Over the course of the test, 18 calls were placed to Hamilton County 9-1-1 from various indoor environments. Location from the smartphone 9-1-1 calls was captured through traditional 9-1-1 location mechanisms and was compared to device-based hybrid handset location sent to RapidSOS.
What’s special about this pilot testing is that there was no app involved. Calls were made by dialing 9-1-1 on a regular phone dialer and improved location information was transmitted in the background. These were our key findings:
Key Finding #1:
Device-based location via the RapidSOS Clearinghouse is highly accurate for Wireless 911 calls across all Carriers and various devices.
Key Finding #2:
Wireless Carrier location is inconsistent for calls placed from indoors.
Key Finding #3:
The TriTech Inform CAD RapidSOS Clearinghouse integration is an effective way for 911 dispatchers to receive more accurate location information for Wireless callers.
