The RapidSOS Clearinghouse
The RapidSOS Clearinghouse is a NENA i3 compliant Location Information Server (LIS) and Additional Data Repository (ADR) that is accessible to authorized PSAPs through integrations into all major call-taking equipment, mapping software & CAD products.
Through the RapidSOS Clearinghouse, PSAPs can securely access device-based location information from enabled smartphones without the need for the caller to use an app, resulting in faster and more accurate location than Phase 2 information currently available.
Zetron RapidSOS Clearinghouse Integration
MAX Call Taking: Version 1.8 and higher
The RapidSOS Clearinghouse directly integrates into the Zetron MAX Call Taking product. Whenever a wireless call is received, RapidSOS-enabled Zetron MAX Call Taking equipment will automatically query the Clearinghouse for supplemental location and additional data.
The Clearinghouse will return the latest available known location from enabled smartphones. This location will be displayed alongside the ALI location, not as a replacement.
Pilot Project
Tennessee Emergency Communications Board
Last year, the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board entered into a pilot project with RapidSOS to rigorously test the ability of the RapidSOS Clearinghouse to deliver device-based location to 9-1-1 (without the need for an app). Zetron Max Call Taking was one of the call-taking systems that was used during the pilot project.
9-1-1 calls were placed from different locations throughout the State, using a regular phone dialer (no app to dial 9-1-1). Device-based location was captured and sent to the RapidSOS Clearinghouse. This location was directly compared to ALI location and ground truth location to calculate location accuracy.
These were our key findings:
