In 911, timing is everything. So is trust.
Real-Time Crime Centers (RTCCs) are built to close the gap between the moment a call comes in and the moment a responder makes it to the scene. They don’t just support investigations—they shape them. They deliver the first video, the first clue, the first insight that shifts everything.
And for over two decades, no one has understood that better than Lieutenant Detective Commander Michael Ricupero.
We’re proud to share that Michael has joined RapidSOS to help lead our real-time crime strategy and guide the next chapter of innovation for 911—and for the people who power it.
Michael has spent his career helping shift the mindset around RTCCs. They aren’t “nice to have.” They’re not “back office”. And they’re certainly not surveillance squads. They’re assist units—by design—but that doesn’t make them secondary.
They are where strategy meets speed. Where intel meets instinct. Where good decisions happen faster.
From his leadership at NYPD’s Real Time Crime Center to his work on mobile response teams during terrorist attacks and subway shootings, Michael knows what real-time actually looks like. He’s lived it. He’s led it. And now, he’s here to help scale it—beyond one agency, one jurisdiction, one use case.
At RapidSOS, we believe the future of 911 must be real-time, connected, and grounded in trust.
That future isn’t built in isolation. It’s built with the people who know 911 best. That’s why we’re intentional about bringing leaders like Michael into our work—not just to consult, but to help lead the way forward.
Michael will play a key role in expanding how RapidSOS supports Real-Time Crime Centers, field responders, and ECCs nationwide. From facial recognition to integrated camera canvassing, from missing persons to mobile response vans, the tech he’s implemented is only part of the story. The why behind it is what matters most.
And his why? It’s the same as ours: to protect people, serve communities, and make sure help gets there faster, better, and more informed.

In Michael’s own words:
We couldn’t agree more.
Please join us in welcoming Michael Ricupero to RapidSOS.
We’re honored he’s here—and even more excited for what we’ll build together.
Because real-time isn’t a buzzword.
It’s a responsibility.
