This post was updated on February 27, 2020 to reflect the General Availability release of Jurisdiction View.
When we launched RapidSOS Portal, our goal was to deliver rich emergency information from connected devices to 9-1-1 telecommunicators. We’re honored to have become the trusted data provider for emergency responders as they answer 9-1-1 calls coming into their Emergency Communication Center (ECC).
We’re excited to announce Jurisdiction View, a free new feature for RapidSOS Portal. Jurisdiction View displays active calls to an ECC on a satellite map of their jurisdiction, making it easier to manage 9-1-1 calls across an entire jurisdiction while simultaneously displaying crucial information about callers.
“Jurisdiction View lets my 9-1-1 specialists and leadership see the “big picture” and rapidly identify exact locations of 9-1-1 calls as they come in. In the past, we had to answer a call and verbally confirm the location from a caller – now the location instantly pops up on Jurisdiction View, often before we even pick up the phone. This saves so much time, and gives us much better situational awareness, and more accurate location information than ever before.”
– Captain Scott Brillman, 9-1-1 Director for the City of Baltimore
Real-Time Data for Emergencies in the Jurisdiction
The Jurisdiction View map will automatically display 9-1-1 calls within an ECC’s jurisdiction, without needing to manually query the caller’s phone number. When a call is selected, the caller’s phone number will be revealed on screen along with their location pinpointed on the map. If the caller is in motion, their device location will automatically and consistently update as they move.

One Dashboard for All Emergency Data Available Through the RapidSOS Platform
Accurate location, medical history, and ride-share data will be accessible with a click, the moment a call comes in. This supplemental data is crucial for guiding first responders as they allocate resources and administer care. Dispatchers can access all of the information from our trusted data partners through the RapidSOS platform. As we expand our tech partnerships, even more additional data will be immediately available through RapidSOS Portal.
Situational Awareness When It’s Needed Most
With the help of the Jurisdiction View dashboard, emergency responders gain valuable situational awareness for emergencies happening within their jurisdiction. With each call answered, telecommunicators may navigate between calls and the vital information associated with each phone number.

Data-Driven Emergency Response
Call clusters show telecommunicators at a glance if there are numerous calls coming in about the same incident. If a call comes in separate from the call cluster, telecommunicators can determine if the call is about another incident and can choose to prioritize that call.
Automatic call location plotting means that caller location data may arrive on the RapidSOS Portal screen before the call even rings at the center. For the first time, telecommunicators will have advanced knowledge of incidents separate from the 911 call — information that can be vital before a major incident or during a 911 call outage.
Jurisdiction View simplifies the management of large volumes of emergency calls. Users can search, filter, and prioritize phone calls as they come in to the ECC.

Start Using RapidSOS Portal Jurisdiction View
“Jurisdiction View has provided us with unprecedented situational awareness. We had a call come in as a non-serviced initialized call (9-1-1) prefix that you can’t callback, but Jurisdiction View automatically displayed a valid phone number and location. With this, we were able to send officers to the location displayed and the male was transported and saved. Without Jurisdiction View, there would have been no way to access this information and the male may have never been found.”
– Michelle Potts, Communications Manager at Chandler Police Department in Arizona
